Support Contemporary Texas History
Contemporary Texas History first launched in 2016 as a Facebook-only page for sharing the history of Texas in the 20th and 21st Centuries. In January, 2017, we launched ContemporaryTexasHistory.com, to bring the history we were working on to many who were not on that social networking platform.
After a brief hiatus during the latter part of 2018 due to issues with our database, we relaunched this site in 2019. As of June 1, 2019, we had re-loaded approximately 65 percent of all content lost due to database issues in 2018.
Our greatest complaint from patrons during the year and six months the site was publicly accessible before our database issues was that they didn't like the ads displayed on the pages.
When we relaunched, we pledged to be an ad-free site. However, running this site is not free, and it is run by one writer and one IT professional who keeps our new site up and running like a charm. None of this is free.
Per month, costs for Contemporary Texas History are:
Historic newspaper and other database subscriptions for researching articles: $49.89
Adobe subscriptions for editing photos, etc.: $19.95 per month.
Hosting platform $12.99 per month.
This doesn't count frequent travel to libraries, archives, and special collections in Austin, Houston, Dallas, and Fort Worth to help fill out some of our special projects.
In order to keep our site ad free, we have multiple ways that our readers can support Contemporary Texas History.
Through Patreon, we have three monthly tiered subscriptions that you may wish to utilize. Each of these give readers access to special benefits--such as early access to content and the ability to request we cover certain aspects of Texas history.
Please use the Patreon Support button to the right of this page if you'd like to become a monthly patron to support our efforts. If you'd prefer not to make a monthly support commitment, please consider making a one-time secure donation through PayPal:
